Slope of the Mountain
In this project, I found out that the hill is 13.3ft high and is 95.0377ft long. I knew that this had a shorter height, because compared to the other colleagues it is way shorter. So my group used the measurer to find out the hypotenuse, we started from the bottom. So we knew that our slope would be a positive slope. The distance was very easy to measure since we had to just pull it and find out, how long the distance is, so we finally found out it is 97.4ft for the hypotenuse. Here came the hard part, we had to measure the height, which was difficult in my opinion, because we had to make sure we had a zero slope. Which was hard to me because I was the leader of the group and had to use with my own naked eyes. The hardest part was to look at the height from 3 to 4, because we needed two rulers and Claire was small so we had to go with it because that was the only way to do it. If we had to take off the hill for a football field, the amount of dirt will be too much, so the community will have to pay a lot to take off the amount of dirt.. During this activity I felt a spirit of teamwork, because we had to hurry up and do it correctly, so that we could check it again and make sure that we had the numbers to not mess up and provide an accurate result. I’ve also learned how to use Excel which was new to me. So in conclusion, this activity made me learn how to measure a slope and work as a team and learned how to use Excel.
